KSKYE the Label is a unisex boho-luxe label, and is Australia's first established fashion label to rebrand as philanthropic, ethical, fair-trade, sustainable and cruelty-free.
KSKYE the Label rebranded from high-end fashion footwear label, KeilanaSkye in 2014/2015. We rebranded into a social business, using sustainable and cruelty-free fashion. Our profits support humanitarian, animal and environmental organizations, and we employ artisans from India, Brazil and Nepal.
During designer, Candy Maaka-Stoten's time behind KeilanaSkye; KeilanaSkye achieved amazing things that took us to LA and NYC; and we dressed the Top 20 in Australia's Next Top Model. We even won a few awards, including the Qantas Spirit of Youth Award. However, during this time, Candy transitioned from vegetarian to vegan and she learned about how toxic leather is. Leather is listed twice in the world's Top Ten pollutants from factory farming and leather tanneries; plus the amount of cruelty attached to this product is horrendous.
So, Candy made the conscious decision to rebrand. She spent 2014 rebranding, which meant that she had to forfeit sales for most of that year, so she could work towards the new direction - and finally in 2015, she relaunched with a bang!
KSKYE Jewellery is made from natural crystals, brass, sterling silver and vermeil gold in collaboration with Indian and Brazilian artisans. Our Indian artisans work from their homes. Each crystal is cleansed and charged in the Sun, before being made into jewellery in our Sydney-based studio. Our pieces are then cleansed and charged again, before being sent to our clients. Our rings are set in India and Brazil.
The purpose of KSKYE Jewellery is to make crystals fashion forward, to empower and support artisans from developing countries and villagers who would otherwise not work; and to help spiritual and soulful development.
KSKYE Hemp Handbags are made using hand-woven hemp in collaboration with Nepalese artisans. Hemp is versatile, sustainable, it requires little water and does not need pesticide to grow. Hemp also cleanses the soil that it grows in, and was used to clean up the ground soil in Chernobyl.
KSKYE Eyewear is made using natural and upcycled woods, eco-dyes and eco-glues. (SOLD OUT)
KSKYE the Label supports Rainforest Rescue and buys back Ecuadoran Rainforest, having bought back 7500sqm so far.
KSKYE the Label is also foster parents to elephants, KAMOK and TSAVO through David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
KSKYE the Label also supports WIRES Wildlife Rescue - our designer is a WIRES Ambassador.
Although we are not 100% eco, we try very hard to be. Many of the materials and metals that we use are recycled/upcycled, we use recycled and recyclable packaging and we support sustainable fibers, such as hemp and organic cotton.
